"Buh-bye Eddie"

This week we had an emotional goodbye to somebody very special. After being a part of the Porier family for 5 years Emmi ((Eddie) has found a new home with Uncle Nate. It wasn't an easy decision to make, but one that we felt was best so that she would get more attention and time. Sadly, having little guys meant no time left for her. We know Uncle Nate will be a great buddy for her and the best part is we can still visit.

Uncle Nate

Micah and Aidan are blessed with lots of Aunties and Uncles that love them lots. Uncle Nate came for a visit this last week and we were sad to see him go.

"So You Had a Bad Day..."

Perspective. Watching American Idol tonight helped me see this (hey, I get inspiration from where I can these days!) As a mom this is something I lose and gain multiple times during the day. I often get asked these days how I'm doing and I realize I can answer in multiple ways. I could tell you about the diaper leaking all over the floor making a huge mess for me to clean up (I'll spare the details). Or I could tell you about reading stories with Aidan. I could tell you about having to give Aidan a shower instead of a bath because our bathroom is still missing tiles (oh the joy of a remodel...) and the fit he threw or I could tell you about the precious moment I had with Micah falling asleep on me. I could tell you about being tired from getting up in the night or I could tell you about laughing at the library during story time while Aidan yells out every object he sees while everyone else listens quietly. Perspective. How am I doing? Probably the same as every other mom...having a bad day and a great day all wrapped up together at the same time. It's all a matter of what I want to focus on. I will never be on American Idol (thank goodness!), but when a "hopeful" gets cut, do they think about how far they made it or that they are done? Remember..."You can rejoice becasue the thornbush has roses or cry because the rosebush has thorns, it's all up to you."

"Relaxing, finally"

Micah has stopped his "boogie at night" fun and is finally giving his parents some much needed rest. (I'm sure having the "gra-gra's here helped get rest too!) We still are looking forward to longer nights, but are thankful that we are making progress. How can you resist that face? :)

"A.D. Helper"

With all the work that has to be done around the house, Aidan has turned into daddy's right hand man. He even has his own "toolbelt" and hammer. This past weekend he helped daddy make Auntie Jenn a room in the basement. As you can see he was all smiles.

"Eyes Wide Open"

Micah at one month is already super strong! He can hold his head up and wants to roll all the time. I think he knows he has a big brother he will need to be ready for.

"Brah-Brahs"

Aidan contines to love having Micah around. His "helping" consists of rocking the baby (while he's already asleep), feeding him crackers, and putting his "choo-choo" (pacifer) in his mouth (also while he is sleeping). And a less than gentle hug is always waiting to happen, so mama has to be watchful at all times.

Micah's growing like a weed and checked in at 8 lbs 12 oz and 21 1/2 inches at his 2 week appt last week. He is on pace to pass up his brother at this rate. Looks like we are going to have some tall boys.

Aidan's vocabulary is growing rapidly as well. He talks in 3-4 word sentences and cracks us up daily. His new favorite words are silly and crazy. He goes through the whole family and names each one of us and says crazy after it. I guess he speaks the truth as each night that we have broken sleep we feel a little more crazy!

"Papa, Gra-Gra"

One of the best parts of having a baby is getting to see Grandma and Grandpa or as Aidan says "Papa and Gra-Gra". Grandpa Dan and Grandma Sara enjoyed cuddling with Micah (totally unlike his brother, Micah loves to be cuddled and held) and playing train with "A.D." Grandpa made a track covering the whole kitchen floor (making more work for mommy down the road, but isn't that what Grandparents are for?!) And Grandma cooked lots of meals for everybody.
